Community Leaders: The top leadership of Unrepentant. Currently Foulsoul and Dao Jones, their job is to manage the overall Unrepentant community across all games and branches. Not elected or appointed; we just sort of "fell into it".
Advisors: Assist the Community Leaders in managing the community by providing advice and counterpoints during decision discussions. They also escalate issues they see up to the CLs. They are appointed by the Community Leaders from within the community.
Branch Leaders: They run the respective branches of Unrepentant. They are the guild leaders, responsible for maintaining and growing our branches, and they handle most of the decisions specific to their game. They are selected by the Community Leaders & Advisors, but usually start as members who have an interest in a new game, and a willingness to lead there.
Branch Officers: Responsible for assisting the Branch Leaders with approving new applications, as well as ensuring we keep our gaming branches sufficiently sexy. They are selected by their Branch Leader.
Branch Leader and Branch Officer names are color-coded on the forums. You can see this key on the lower right side of our Portal: portal.php.
How stuff runs:
Basically, we run ourselves. Once you're a fully voted-in member you are presumed to be full of awesome, and thus we don't need to ride herd on you. Community Leadership is here to help set the tone; i.e. determine what rules should apply to everyone across the community. They only get involved in problems or decisions if they potentially affect everyone. Otherwise, Branch Leaders will generally handle most of the business day to day.
We do have rules, however, and those few we consider important we consider very important: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=81
The U is a big proponent of "do it yourself" when it comes to your fun*. If you're new, jump in Vent and say hello! We're a friendly bunch, and only a few of us bite. In game, don't be shy; we do want to team up with you. Lastly, if you want to take part in a raid or event, then set one up! Organize the event, schedule the raid, and get your fellow U interested.
This also extends to the rare conflicts we have. We understand that people will disagree and argue, and we're not going to scream at you for having (and strongly defending) your beliefs or opinions. However, it is expected that when you're done disagreeing you'll shake hands and walk away with no lingering negative mojo. Big kids can respectfully disagree; little kids hold grudges.
Remember: At the end of the day we are all equals here, so everyone's voice is valued, everyone's input is sought, and everyone's good times are our concern. Keep that in mind. Even leadership serves at the pleasure of the community, and while we may in our time here make decisions that are not popular with everyone, we must always acknowledge that the welfare of the community drives everything we do.
Last but not least: once you are a member here, you are a member in every game we play, now and for as long as you roll with us. So don't be shy to try out a new game!
Here's how we expect our branch leadership to operate.
*This isn't an euphemism, but it totally could be.
